Shocking: Woman From Zimbabwe Boils Her New Born Baby!

    1

Woman From Zimbabwe Boils Her New Born Baby because the supposed father refused paternity and responsibility.

The police have arrested a Gweru woman from Mkoba Village 11. She was reported to have killed her newly born baby by boiling the baby on a stove because the father denied paternity. The event, which has become the talk of the town in Gweru, took place on Tuesday. According to eyewitnesses, the woman whose name has not been confirmed at the time of press yesterday was reported to the police at Mkoba Police Station by a tenant. The tenant claimed she found the mother boiling the newly born baby.

Police in Mkoba yesterday confirmed the case and the arrest of the woman. They, however, refused to give additional information and directed this reporter to Midlands’s provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Patrick Chademana for comment.

Efforts to get a comment from Inspector Chademana or his deputy, Assistant Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko have been unsuccessful as the two were said to be attending an emergency meeting in Harare.

When Chronicle visited Mkoba yesterday, the house where the crime was alleged to have to place was abandoned with neighbours confirming the incident.

According to a neighbour who pleaded anonymity, “I have never come across what I witnessed at our neighbours’. I was one of the few people who were first to arrive at the scene after the incident and when we arrived the body of the newly born baby was still floating in hot water,”

The neighbours said police at Mkoba Police Station later arrived at the scene and arrested the woman who had been put under “house arrest” by angry residents.
“It was a shocking incident and it is the talk of the neighbourhood, even the police who arrived at the scene and found the body of the baby in boiling water were stunned,” said another witness.

According to the neighbours, the woman, whom they only identified as Mai Petty lives with her child and her siblings. They said the suspect decided to kill her newly born baby by tossing it into steaming water after a man thought to have fathered her child denied obligation.

According to another neighbour, “She has been long involved in a dispute with her boyfriend who is also from the neighbourhood. When the boyfriend (name given) denied responsibility for the pregnancy, Mai Petty decided to kill the baby by throwing it into boiling water that was on the stove.”

The neighbours said a tenant at the woman’s house later arrived and found the body of the baby in the boiling water. “He quickly informed other residents but the woman quickly removed the pot from the stove and poured the body of the infant into a dish,” said another neighbour.

According to Police sources who spoke to Chronicle, the suspect was denying having boiled the infant.
“In her warned and cautioned statement, the suspect is arguing that the baby could have died due to high temperatures while she was bathing it. She is saying she could have used very hot water to wash her baby leading to its death,” said the police source.

The police informed that investigations into the incident were still ongoing. CHRONICLE

This woman from Zimbabwe is not the only one that has killed her child in a gruesome way. Just few days ago, A Nigerian woman was reported to have killed her son by punishing him to death.

Europe Freeze! Many Loose Their Lives!

    Europe Freeze!

Europe freeze! Recently, 130 lives have been claimed by the severe cold weather in the remote areas of Serbia, resulting to 11,000 villagers cut off from the world. In addition, six deaths have also been recorded in Serbia, with emergency services expressing concerns for the health of the sick and the elderly in particular. A BBC correspondent Nick Thorpe reported that, the snow in Serbia started on the 7th of January, and has not stopped till date.

According to weather experts, 63 people have died in Ukraine and many more rendered homeless while another 29 died in Poland as a result of the harsh and freezing European weather condition. It further stated that temperatures went below -30C (-22F) in other parts of Europe.

Emergency services in Serbia have described the situation, close to the country’s south-western borders with Kosovo and Montenegro, as very serious. According to an emergency official Pedrag Maric, he said that the snow has reached a depth of 2m (ft 6in) and fourteen municipalities have been affected. (Europe freeze!)

Several people have been moved by helicopter for safety, and food and medicines have been flown to isolated areas.

Weather experts also said that this week’s cold has been recorded as the coldest week in Italy for the past 27 years. However, thick snow has caused a general disorder in the Northern and Central parts of Italy.

More than 600 passengers were stuck on an unheated train in the Apennine Mountains for seven hours on Wednesday night, when the brakes and electrical cables froze from the freezing temperatures taking place around Europe.

Russia and Kazakhstan have recorded the coldest temperatures, as Cars and Lorries have been stuck in snow, in the southern part of Russia, between Novorossiisk and Krasnodar.

Turkey has also been affected by heavy snow on Wednesday, with 50cm falling in Istanbul. It got a woman killed in her home in the South- Eastern part of the country.

Europe freeze! How long this will go on, and how many lives will be lost before it ends is what nobody knows yet.

An emotive experience, a reflection of a current headspace.
    Things to know
“29 years old with wanderlust. I am originally from Ghana, West Africa.” (She is therefore a Ghanaian British as well as an Afro-European).
    Career
“I started styling at 14years old and I have not looked backed since. In that span of time, I have worked in the digital side of editorial high fashion, consulted to brands and personal styled clients for the red carpet.”
    At the moment
“Stylist, creative consultant and online contributing editor for PUSH IT magazine. I also publish the blog.”
    Awards
“Listed third in Glam Media’s top 20 fashion blogs. Cosmo Blog Award 2010 finalist in the fashion category.”
    What’s next
“Working with some new brands in the New Year on increasing their visibility online. Researching into varying avenues I would like to take my blog. A great blog is one that starts conversation in a unique voice, one that gives a reader an optional perspective. If my blog can get a non fashion person, based in the middle of nowhere with no access to high fashion to engage in conversation about or relate to a trend/concept then I think it is has done its job.

Ghanaian British Stylist and Creative Consultant Marian KihogoAlternative Projects
“I am dreaming of taking some time off to volunteer my efforts towards philanthropic caused in Ghana. The ones that work with children are closest to my heart.”
    Pets
“My vintage clothes! They get an inappropriate amount of love.”
    Relationship Status
“I have been married for 6years. I knew it had to him when he did not laugh at the fact that I name my shoes.”
    Never leaves home without
“My wrist-wear! It is my armour from the world. It is a mix of bangles, cuffs and bracelets picked up along the journey that is life. They represent where I have been. It is like wearing my memories on a wrist. Blackberry. I call my blackberry ‘Old Faithfull’ because she faithfully manages my diary and all its many appointments. Unlike a human assistant, she is guaranteed to never take a sick day off. Camera. Inspiration is everywhere, in the least unexpected places and ways. Having my camera at all times to capture those moments is a must. Notepad. A lot of my blog posts start as an idea or thought jotted down in a notepad. I am essentially writing things down all the time. I like to note things down as they come to me. That way, they are devoid of as much afterthought as possible.”
    Public Style
“Layered texture, print, colour, structure as influenced by my love of the luxury glamour of the 70’s, sharp tailored menswear and punk rock & roll. This is then completely directed my by current moods.”
Ghanaian British Stylist and Creative Consultant Marian KihogoPrivate Style
“I wish I could stay it was comfortable tracksuits but it usually just as emotively led as my public style. Some derive joy from collecting garments and possibly wearing them when a just occasion arrives. I think every moment is a just reason to where something that brings you joy. A beautiful piece is wasted just languishing in a closet waiting for the right moment to be worn. Thus it is not uncommon to have me wafting about the house in some trailing floor length gown. It has gotten to a point where the husband no longer bats an eye.”

    Shoes and Bags
“With heels the higher the better! I like structural heels. It is like walking on a pair of art pieces. Balenciaga make the most incredible pieces of footwear. I also like moccasins and brogues. I like my day bags to be vintage with clean modern lines. Their inspiration is usually present day Chloé and Prada bags. They have that non fussy aesthetic down to a science. I collect vintage clutches, like a magpie I am drawn to the beautifully embellished ones.”
    Jewellery
“Layered, emotive and bold. I like to mix fine jewels with costume and vintage as discovered on my travels. Interestingly I am more upset when I lose a vintage piece than a modern day counterpart. I adore the aesthetic of Maria Francesca Pepe’s work. There is a wonderfully brooding element to her pieces that draws me to it. My closet will not be complete till I have all of her spring summer 2011 collection. Think beautiful jewelled body brace like pieces that were inspired by the exo-skeleton as it were of a garment. When it comes to fine jewellery I adore the work of bespoke fine diamond jeweller, Jessica McCormack. Wearing a piece by her is such joy; it is like being bedecked in a bespoke miniature sculpture or your own one-off mini galaxy. I am haunted in my dreams of her “Jewels Of The Urban Night” collection. Mini like diamond jewel structures as inspired by iconic buildings from around the world. My favourite piece from that collection is her “New York Night diamond ring” which was inspired by the Manhattan night skyline. I think a beautiful piece is made even more precious when it is a one-off as is the case with Jessica’s work…”
Ghanaian British Stylist and Creative Consultant Marian KihogoHair
“When I was a child my hair was long, it reached my mid back. Now my hair is natural and cropped low. Long hair and I have never gotten along. Buzzed low works better for me. I think this length works as a flexible canvass for my ever emotive driven style.”
    Fashion tip
“Trends are fickle but innate style should be lauded, celebrated and put on a pedestal. Life is too short to worry about ‘dos and don’ts’ of fashion. My constant only ‘do’ is ‘Wear what you feel!”
    Style icon
“Grace Jones and anyone who is fearless in their pursuit of embracing their personal style.”
    Favourite dress
“A floaty, Talitha Getty sort of blush toned vintage maxi gown. It looks handmade, but is very vintage Halston in mood. It seems to embody a million different facets. Each time I wear it, it is like the very first time. I always notice something new about it. It has a way of making everything seem all the more brighter and starrier.

Balenciaga – No one does innovative fashion that is still relevant in the present quite like Balenciaga. I have adored the Fashion House since I was 9. Cristobal Balenciaga was genius and so is current creative, Nicolas Ghesquière. Ana Šekularac keeps me enthralled with her ability to fuse the elegantly timeless with the structural. She is currently doing interesting things with detailed weaving, corsetry and pleating that is a must see. She is a very special talent and her spring summer 2011 collection is absolutely breathtaking. Everything that comes out of Prada is a collectable. I think Miuccia Prada can do no wrong. I have been a fan of the brand since I first saw her nylon backpacks. She has innate way of taking the overlooked and turning it into cult must have designs. Roy Frowick Halston was in a league of his own. No one fused minimalism with glamour quite like him. No one still does. He was far ahead of his time. Pieces made my him from the Studio 54 era as worn by the likes of Pat Cleveland and co still look relevant today. He was the Calvin Klein of his time. Rei Kawakubo and Yohji Yamamoto for their incredibly thought provoking avant-garde and deconstruction. Kenzo for mixing prints and textures with the mood of far flung destinations. Vintage Kenzo ads are so inspiring. The styling was beyond. Lanvin for embodying a spirit of exuberant sophistication. Chloé, Céline and Stella McCartney. All three conjure up the most feminine clothes that still manage to remain unfussy, streamlined, modern and sexy. Alexander McQueen. Everything he made was genius and far ahead of his time. Incredible pattern cutting and tailoring. Dries Van Noten. Nobody comes close to this man when it comes to colour palettes. He puts together the most unexpected hues and they always work. I think he could easily be a painter. His colour palettes would be breathtaking on canvass.

Record Number of Africans die Trying to Reach Europe on Boat

    0
    • According to a newly released report by the UNHCR, a record number of Africans die Trying to Reach Europe on Boat!

No less than 1,500 migrants, mainly from Somalia and other parts of Africa, lost their lives while trying to enter the European coastlines in 2011. According to the United Nations refugee agency (UNHCR), the deadly journey continues from Libya.

It said popular uprisings in Tunisia and Libya encouraged many people to run away from their country last year, sub-Saharan migrants working in North Africa after tighter border methods sharply reduced arrivals in Europe in 2009 and 2010.

“This makes 2011 the deadliest year for this region since UNHCR started to record these statistics in 2006,” Sybella Wilkes, spokeswoman for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), told a news briefing.

The UNHCR toll is an evaluation that involves people of15 nationalities recognised to have drowned or disappeared in the Mediterranean Sea, which divides Europe and Africa.

Over 58,000 people entered Europe by sea last year, also a record, comprising 56,000 who arrived in Italy, half of them Tunisian, Ms Wilkes said.

Malta and Greece received 1,574 and 1,030 people, respectively, by sea. “Most were migrants, not asylum-seekers,” she said.

ALSO SEE: Two Cameroonian Migrants Arrested For Killing Ten Nigerians.

Furthermore, 55,000 “irregular” migrants crossed the land border between Greece and Turkey at Evros last year, according to Greek government figures.

Last April and May, armed forces loyal to then-Libyan leader Muammar Gadafy forced migrants onto boats which they often had to skipper themselves in traumatic conditions, said Ms Wilkes.

Notwithstanding high seas and poor mid-winter weather, three boats are acknowledged to have made an effort to take the perilous journey from Libya already this year, one of which disappeared at sea with at least 55 people on board after raising the alarm, Ms Wilkes said.

Libyan coast guards have told the UNHCR that 18 bodies have washed up in the past week, as well as a dozen women and a baby girl, mainly those people from Somali who are living in Tripoli, she said.

Italian, Maltese and Libyan authorities were making efforts to rescue boats in distress in the Mediterranean. But the UNHCR repeated its call for all ships to carry out their duty of rescuing vessels in distress, in line with international law.

Zimbabwean Woman of Malawian Origin Murdered and Stuffed in a Suitcase in Dublin

    2

A Zimbabwean woman of Malawian origin has been brutally murdered in Dublin, Ireland, and her body stuffed in a suitcase.

A Zimbabwean Woman of Malawian Origin murdered and stuffed in a suitcase in Dublin, Ireland. According to the Irish Times, the suitcase was found dumped near some rubbish bins where forensic officers spent hours carrying out fingertip searches. The 26-year-old woman was been identified as Rudo Mawere, who has been a student in Ireland for the past two years. According to friends and acquaintance, she had been in a relationship with a Zimbabwean man.

As officers carry out their investigation to find out the young student’s family, it was unclear whether she was a Zimbabwean with a Malawian passport or a Malawian with ties to Zimbabwe. Some Zimbabweans are known to have acquired Malawian passports to gain entrance into the UK. Those who later claimed asylum found themselves being sent to Malawi as a result of failed asylum application.

Rubbish was removed piece by piece from bins on St David’s Terrace, Blackhorse Avenue, on Dublin’s north side near the Phoenix Park. Police have also been trawling through CCTV footage from local shops in a bid to identify who may have been in the area on Saturday night.

They believe the woman had been strangled or suffocated and her remains taken to the spot where she was dumped beside some wheelie bins.

ALSO SEE: Woman From Hell Slaps, Kicks, Stomp On A Child For Throwing Up.

She had a plastic bag over her head and was fully clothed when found in the hold-all bag. The discovery was made early yesterday.

The deceased was wearing jeans, boots, a top and a jacket when found. Police  believe she was killed on Saturday, her remains stuffed into the 2ft by 4ft bag.

Witnesses have told police they saw the bag as early as 7pm on Saturday but had no idea there was a body inside. The deceased was found at about 8.30am yesterday on St David’s Terrace when a passerby went to investigate the contents of the bag.

When it was opened, the woman’s body was clearly visible.A large crime scene was immediately sealed off, with traffic into the area blocked for most of yesterday.

The bag containing the remains of her body was left untouched until Deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis arrived at the scene to carry out a preliminary examination. After the completion of his examination, the bag with the body still inside was taken to Beaumont Hospital in north Dublin where it was X-rayed to find more information and clues.

Police sources said this was done in order that the investigating team would have a clear record of the positioning of the body in the bag in the event this may somehow aid the investigation at a later date. Then the remains were taken to the State pathology facility in Marino.

An autopsy was carried out there by Dr Curtis. While the exact results of the examination were not released at the time the Irish times wrote published this article, it was concluded that the woman was either strangled or suffocated.

The Africa Centre, a charity promoting social inclusion of African people in Ireland, condemned the “gruesome” killing of the woman.

“The death of this lady is shocking and dumping her in a suitcase is unimaginable,” the centre’s chief executive, Eric Yao, said.

Mr Yao appealed to anyone with information about the woman or the circumstances surrounding her death to contact the Africa Centre or police.

Health: Atasha Graham Killed by her hair Extensions

    5

    • According to pathologist, about 10 to 20 deaths a year are caused by allergic reaction to hair extension adhesive
    • The court hears that sweating from dancing all night may possibly have triggered glue to enter Atasha Graham’s blood stream

Thirty four years old Atasha Graham was Killed by her hair Extensions. She died after suffering a significant hypersensitive reaction probably caused by the adhesive in her hair extensions, an autopsy report proved today.

Atasha Graham, a housewife, collapsed after a night out dancing at a club where her boyfriend was the DJ.

The hearing at Southwark Coroner’s Court in London was told the allergic reaction may possibly have been triggered by the adhesive used to fasten her hair extensions – but there was no way to be hundred per cent sure.

According to what Doctor Michael Heath, the Home Office pathologist told the inquest: ‘I’ve seen cases where people using solvent to apply hair extensions have actually caused anaphylactic shock.

‘There are about 10 to 20 deaths a year in this country, many more in America. I have seen four in the last three months.’

ALSO SEE: 25 Trendy Updo Hairstyles For Black Women.

The probe heard that ‘fun-loving’ Ms Graham had been well on the night out until she stepped through the door of her home in Lee, south-east London, at 6.30am, then abruptly fell down and became unconscious.

Her startled companion, Fenton Johnson, called an ambulance and tried to revive her while 999 operators give him instructions over the phone on what to do.

Ms Graham, the third youngest of nine siblings, never properly recovered from her unconsciousness. She later passed away in hospital.

An inquest was unable to find any anomalies with her organs or materials which may possibly lead to her death.

According to Carlus, her younger brother, who was present at the inquest along with his wife Marsha, ‘This is the most frustrating thing of all. We still don’t know what happened.’

The inquest heard Ms Graham had been drinking Hennessy brandy and Red Bull hours before she died, but only had a modest amount of alcohol in her body which could not have resulted to her death.

Dr Heath did not find any kind of drugs or materials in her body.

Jamaican-born Ms Graham only ate takeaway jerk pork and Chinese before she went out that evening. The woman had no history of allergic reaction to food.

ALSO SEE: Afro Hair Care In 12 European Cities.

According to Dr Heath, an allergic reaction to food would usually take place within half an hour of eating. For that reason, he did not think it is possible to be something she has eaten.

He went on to examine the hair piece Ms Graham wore to see if there may possibly be an allergic reaction to the latex glue used for to attaching it to her natural hair.
Dr Heath added: ‘The hair extensions in Atasha’s hair were of a latex type. This may or may not be related [to her death].

‘If it is the hair extension normally a reaction would occur within half an hour of applying them or if some of the latex got into the solution because of perspiration and then got into the bloodstream.’

He added that sweat, for instance if she had been dancing in a club, could possibly have triggered the glue to get into her bloodstream.

However, the pathologist said he would anticipate an allergic reaction to take place immediately after the glue was applied and Atasha had been wearing extensions, which she got done in salons, since was 20 years old.

After prolonged consultations with experts the pathologist said he was convinced the cause of death was anaphylactic shock as the level of tryptase, which occurs naturally in the body during an allergic reaction, was 178 micrograms per litre of blood – up to 25 times higher than the normal amount of between two and 14 micrograms per litre.

Nevertheless, he said he could not pin down precisely what was the cause was.

Dr Heath added: ‘The diagnosis is correct, but I am not sure what triggered it.

‘If she had recovered we could have carried out tests, but the situation we have, tragically, we cannot take it any further.’

Coroner Christopher Williams recorded a verdict of death by natural causes as he said it was not possible to establish a clear link with a particular allergen that triggered her body to go into shock.

He said: ‘She had an allergic reaction to something as the level of tryptase in her body was 178 micrograms, but we are not able to identify what the specific agent was that that caused this reaction.’

Speaking afterwards, Mr Johnson, Ms Graham’s partner of two years with whom she had been trying to have a baby, described her as a ‘wonderful person’ who helped him turn his life around.

Mr Johnson said: ‘She changed me a lot. It’s so shocking this could have happened. I still have to keep looking at pictures of her on my phone.’

Ms Graham’s brother, Carlus, added: ‘She was such a nice person. She loved kids. She was fun-loving.

‘She just enjoyed her life, enjoyed doing what made her happy.

‘I was younger than her by two years, but we were like twins. She even taught me how to read and write.

‘The last time I spoke to her was the Friday before this happened. I remember her every day.’
