    Crotch Bomber Contests Life Sentence

    Crotch Bomber Contests Life Sentence

Confessed crotch bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab is contesting his compulsory life in prison sentence, arguing in court documents filed a few days ago that life sentence is “cruel and unusual punishment” and illegitimate. Abdulmutallab, who is scheduled to be sentenced on Thursday, is facing an obligatory life in prison sentence after pleading guilty in October to trying to blow up a Detroit-bound airliner with almost 300 passengers with a bomb hidden in his underwear. He pleaded guilty to several criminal charges, including trying to use a weapon of mass destruction, and conspiracy to commit terrorism.

The plot was foiled when his bomb malfunctioned and could not explode properly.

Abdulmutallab wrote in court documents that, “Given the circumstances and what did NOT occur in the instant matter it is fair to say that the mandatory minimum sentence of life is excessive and grossly disproportionate to the conduct.”. “Aside from the defendant no passengers suffered any serious injuries and there were no casualties.”

The government strongly disagrees and has asked the U.S. District Judge Nancy Edmunds to make sure Abdulmutallab receives the maximum punishment of compulsory life in prison.

“Defendant is an unrepentant, would-be mass murderer, who views his crimes as divinely inspired and blessed, and who views himself as under a continuing obligation to carry out such crimes,” prosecutors wrote on Friday in a sentencing memo. “He attempted to murder 289 individuals, no sentence other than life … Could possibly reflect the seriousness of defendant’s conduct.”

In pushing for a stiff sentence, the government also disclosed on Friday details about Abdulmutallab’s relationship with a well-known al-Qaida figure.

According to court documents, Abdulmutallab spent months pursuing American-born Muslim cleric Anwar al-Awlaki in Yemen, where the two men eventually met and hatched out a plan to blow up an American airliner over U.S. soil on Christmas Day 2009. In the weeks prior to the attempted bombing, the two exchanged text messages, discussed briefly on the phone and ended up spending three days together at al-Awlaki’s house arranging the attack, the government wrote in court documents.

According to court documents, Al-Awlaki ultimately steered Abdulmutallab to a bomb maker, who trained the Nigerian defendant on how to flare up the bomb. It was Al-Awlaki, the government says, who ultimately approved the martyrdom mission.

As stated by courts documents written by prosecutors, “Awlaki’s last instructions to him were to wait until the airplane was over the United States and then to take the plane down.”

Court documents stated that Abdulmutallab made open the details of his relationship with Al-Awlaki in statements he gave to the FBI in 2010.

Al-Awlaki, who had become a leading al-Qaida figure in Yemen, was killed in a U.S. drone attack last year.

Documents from the court show that, Abdulmutallab spent several years following the online teachings of Al-Awlaki. In 2009, he left Dubai, where he had been undergoing graduate classes, and travelled to Yemen with the expectations of finding his mentor and becoming actively involved in jihad, the government wrote.

Records showed that once in Yemen, Abdulmutallab visited mosques and asked locals if they had any idea of how he could get in contact with Awlaki. He finally met someone with a connection: the individual took Abdulmutallab’s cell phone number and gave it to Awlaki, who texted him shortly after.

Records showed that the two men ultimately met. Furthermore, Abdulmutallab succeeded in selling himself as an ideal candidate for a martyrdom mission, and a bomb maker was sent for.

According to documented information, for a period of two weeks, Abdulmutallab trained in a camp, where he received weapons instructions and indoctrination in jihad, records show. The bomb maker eventually delivered the bomb to Abdulmutallab and showed him how to use it.

    The plot was unsuccessful.

The bomb fizzled in Abdulmutallab’s crotch. Abdulmutallab, whose genitalia and legs were burned in the mission, pleaded guilty to all the charges.

In the middle of trial, just after a jury had been seated, he said: “participation in jihad against the United States is considered among the most virtuous of deeds in Islam and is highly encouraged in the Koran.” He went on to call his bomb, “a blessed weapon.

South Korean Pastor and Wife Blamed for Killing Possessed Children

A South Korean pastor and his wife are in police custody for killing three of their so-called possessed children by starving them to death.

According to a CNN reporter in Seoul, a pastor and his wife are in police custody for killing three of their so-called possessed children by starving them to death. According to their claims, the children are possessed by evil spirits. This was made public by the South Korean police on Wednesday. The couple told police that the three children had been ill lately, and they believed it was a sign of an evil spirit. In addition, the pastor revealed that evil spirit might have invaded his three children because they ate too much on Lunar New Year.

The police said the alleged possessed children aged nine; seven and three were starved from January 24th until February 2nd. The couple only allowed the three children to drink water. Local media reported that the children’s hairs were cut by their parents. In addition, the kids were maltreated with a belt and a fly swatter countless times.

According to the police, all three died on February 2nd, between 2am and 7am, in the town of Boseong, south of Seoul. The pastor, named Park, and his wife, Cho, told police that they were trying to chase the evil spirit away from the children and that was the reason they tied their arms and legs with stockings.

The police said the pastor was praying in the hope of resurrecting the children. Unfortunately, the children’s bodies were found nine days later by Park’s brother-in-law. Also, the police said their eight-month-old daughter who survived the incident has been taken away from them and put into care. The couple told the police they opened a church in Boseong. However, they were accused of being in a cult. The police plan to forward the case to the prosecutor’s office on February 17th.

Swiss Ministry Set to close marriage loophole for illegal immigrants

    2

A new Law is set to be passed in Zurich court to stop marriages between illegal immigrants and Swiss nationals.

In January 2011, a law was passed in Zurich court which prevents asylum seekers from getting married to Swiss nationals after being denied or rejected from their asylum applications. The said asylum usually use this method in abusing and bypassing their rejection and probably repatriation from Switzerland.

The law, also known as Lex Brunner is named after the man who initiated. The man is Toni Brunner, the far-right SVP leader.

According to the Tages-Anzeiger newspaper, the problem with the new law is that it may invade the human right to marry under the European Convention on Human Rights.

As a result of this disagreement, certain regions have started permitting illegal immigrants the right to marry Swiss citizens.

In Bern and Vaud, for example, illegal immigrants with criminal records have been given the green light to wed in direct contravention of the law.

However, a recent case in Zurich may lead to the restoration of the marriage rules.

An incident occurred in 2008 where a young man entered Switzerland illegally, he later went to seek for asylum in which his application was rejected. However, he was given until 2010 to leave the country which he did not do and has recently requested permission to marry a Swiss woman.

His request was turned down and he appealed to the Department of Justice, which supported his appeal in part and instructed the registry office to review the pair’s application.

Nevertheless, in order to prevent the law being set aside as it has been in the other regions, the Federal Office of Justice has submitted the case to the cantonal administrative court.

If the young man is unable to provide evidence of his legal residency in Switzerland, the court will have no option in its interpretation of the rules.

Party Files Petition to cap Number of Immigrants to Switzerland

Party Files Petition to cap Number of Immigrants to Switzerland

On Tuesday, the Swiss largest party, the far-right Swiss People’s Party, filed a petition backing a cap on the number of immigrants allowed to live in Switzerland. This is because more than a fifth of the population is of a foreign origin.

According to Toni Brunner, the Party’s leader, he wanted to “spark a debate on immigration” as he filed the request to the federal chancellery, ending a months-long battle to pull together the mandatory 100,000 signatures.

If the authorities consider the positions of the popular initiative legitimate, it then goes to a popular referendum, as per Switzerland’s unique system of direct democracy.

The change is intended to reduce the yearly amount of immigrants allowed residency as well as to properly screen applicants. The party’s proposals also suggested that immigrants and natives should not be given the same priority on the job market. This means that foreigners should only be hired where there is no native to fill the vacancy.

In addition, the Populist Party of Brunner explained during the seven-month campaign that immigration quotas would be set in order to match it with Switzerland’s economic requirements.

The country’s federation of employers and industries acted quickly in response to the prospect of a referendum by cautioning that the proposed law would threaten Switzerland’s economic success.

According to figures from the Swiss People’s Party, the petition collected a total of 136,195 signatures. The vast majority of the signatories come from the German-speaking counties where Switzerland’s far-right has almost a monopoly.

As at August 2011, about 22.3% of the country’s population of 7.9 million was made up of immigrants.

Rwandan Diplomat Evodo Mudaheranwa Deported From Sweden

Rwandan Diplomat, Evodo Mudaheranwa the second in command at the Rwandan embassy in Stockholm is said to have been deported from Sweden.

Rwandan Diplomat Evodo Mudaheranwa Deported From Sweden

According to the Swedish government on Tuesday, it had expelled a foreign diplomat. Amid reports the person in question was a high level official at the Rwandan embassy in Stockholm.

Conferring the incident, the Swedish foreign ministry spokesman, Theo Zetterman told AFP “We can confirm that we have expelled a diplomat”. He however refused to provide any information on the identity or nationality of the diplomat or the reasons for the expulsion.

According to a weekend report by the Rwanda News Agency,  Evodo Mudaheranwa, the second in command at the Rwandan embassy in Stockholm, had last Wednesday been given 48 hours to leave over “activities incompatible with his diplomatic status”.

The Rwandan embassy refused to comment on the incident, they instead referred questions to the foreign ministry in Kigali, which could not immediately be reached for validation.

The Rwandan agency report, which cited unnamed observers, said his expulsion may be linked to the disappearance last month of Rwandan journalist Jean Bosco Gasasira with the Umuvugizi newspaper, who had found asylum in Sweden.

When contacted by AFP, Swedish police could not confirm the journalist’s disappearance or say if a probe had been launched, and the foreign ministry would not say if any diplomatic steps had been taken in connection with the reported disappearance.

Gasasira’s Editor Amiel Nkuliza, also based in Sweden, told AFP he had been unable to contact the journalist since January 13 and that he had asked Reporters Without Borders to pressure the Swedish government about the case.

Nkuliza also said that while at the embassy, Mudaheranwa had systematically harassed him, Gasasira and other Rwandans critical of the government in Kigali.

“I think that is the reason for his deportation,” he said.

According to the Police, two teenagers jumped to their death from a mobile phone tower in Bangladesh after the girl was forced to go into marriage with another man. Boko Haram: Nigerians in the UK to Hold Peace Rally in London

    1

Nigerians in the UK will be holding a Peace Rally outside Downing Street, London on the 18th of February, 2012 in solidarity with families who lost their innocent loved ones in terrorist attacks and to send a clear message to the terrorist group Boko Haram that they will never win.

According to the Organizer, Nigeria Associations & Communities in the United Kingdom (NAC-UK), the Peace Rally is one in a series of ‘Diaspora Actions’ against terrorism in Nigeria.

The massacre of innocent Nigerians, especially, in places of worship is evil and it is hardly incomprehensible when it is claimed to be executed in God’s name or in the name of a Religion.

NAC-UK attests its support for the secular status of Nigeria where religion and freedom can co-exist. We believe that religion ought to promote peace, love, fairness, and freedom. Any religion which fails to promote these universal human and divine values can be considered a grave danger to society and is anti-God. We, therefore, call on the leaders of Islam, Christianity, and Natural Religion to endeavor to inculcate these civilized values in their followers.

NAC-UK urges the religious and political leaders, especially those in Northern Nigeria, the Federal Government of Nigeria and all peace and truth-loving Nigerians, men and women of goodwill everywhere to help in bringing these despicable acts of terrorism to an immediate end and to bring the perpetrators of these heinous crimes and their sponsors to book, no matter their standing in society’ the group said.

If we have any decency or humanity in us which, I believe we have, we must mobilize Nigerians and friends of Nigeria to the streets of London on February 18, 2012, to stop the ongoing violence. The option of sitting at home and screaming at the television or radio is not good enough. Let what we do speak louder than our words.

We must mobilize for change in our attitude as Nigerians against unspeakable evil, we must mobilize against violence. We must restore hope to the distressed, the bereaved, the injured, and the dispossessed. To sit back now and do nothing may spell disaster for us in the future; our inactions, witting or unwitting encourage the violent disintegration of Nigeria.

We should not wait for other people to take up this campaign. This is a cause that every Nigerian should be associated with.

To support the Peace Rally of the 18 February 2012 in London is the least we can do for now to draw the attention of the International Community to the evils of terrorism before it is too late.

Finally, we urge the Federal Government of Nigeria to be seen to be proactive and serious in addressing the current barbaric situation in Nigeria and reassure Nigerians and Foreigners of their safety in any part of the country, and also pay meaningful compensation to all the victims of Boko Haram atrocities and the victims of any reprisal attack.

An Angry Dad Shoots Teens Laptop 9 (nine) times Over Facebook Post in which she was complaining about all the things she does at home and more!

Video: Angry Dad Shoots Teens Laptop Over Facebook Post
    Angry Dad

IT’S HIGHLY POSSIBLE that you’ve already seen this video, even though it’s only been online for three days by now – but if you haven’t, it’s certainly worth a watching. It’s about  how an Angry dad shot his teen daughter’s laptop nine times because of her Facebook post.

Welcome to the gun swinging parenting style of  Tommy Jordan. Tommy is a father from North Carolina, who works in the IT business. Due to his IT expertise, he was asked by his (evidently quite insistent) 15-year-old teen daughter to upgrade her laptop.

Unknowingly to the daughter, giving her father access to the laptop would mean he could see posts on her Facebook page – posts she thought were hidden from his view.

Put it this way: he wasn’t at all happy about what he read on his daughters Facebook post updates. In respond to that and to show her who was in charge, he choose what would be referred to as “parenting North Carolina style” by using his gun. He gave nine gun shots to the laptop, recorded everything and uploaded to YouTube.
