Usher Admits He Regrets Getting Married

Usher admits he regrets getting married to Tameka at the age of 28. He calls it his “best mistake” in an interview he talked about getting married and then a divorce.

In a sneak peek from Oprah’s upcoming interview with Usher on Oprah’s Next Chapter, the R&B star admitted he regretted getting married at the age he did. He also talked about the bitter custody battled for their two sons that engulfed him and his ex-wife Tameka Foster. He went on to say that he wasn’t really ready to walk down the aisle despite spending $1 million on the wedding.

“kicking myself in the butt” for going through with his marriage to Foster in the first place, Usher told Oprah.

“I always felt like maybe we weren’t ready. And maybe this wasn’t the time or the way to do it,” he continued. “Part of that I think played into the demise of it,” he said.

Usher and Tameka’s marriage lasted 2 years (from 2007 – 2009). After a long custody battle, a judge awarded Usher the primary custody of their two boys in 2012.

    Even a He-Goat Knows Better!

    0

    even-a-he-goat-knows-better-afrocosmopolitan-com-livestock-transport-the-african-goat-on-bicycle-for-goat-breeding

A couple of days ago I was in a circle of some guys that lives in Europe at a pub in Rotterdam. In the chat, all they talked about was how, what, who, when, where, they have had sex. One of the stories I heard that night was incredibly awful, one of the men was bragging about how he has been sleeping with his friend’s wife. Also how he has successfully slept with most young African girls in his town! Don’t get me wrong I wasn’t surprise at this at all, I am getting used to this line of discussions.

I remember the first time I got myself involved in this kind of discussion, I was so uncomfortable, and I even tried steering the discussion to another topic. You know that thing we do to divert a topic, the only response from one of the men to the new topic was ‘éhen’ and he went straight back to how he slept with some guys wife and how to lose the woman is etc.

It’s amazing what African men find interesting nowadays especially those in diasporas. It is a general believe that women gossip. Really I don’t know what else women talk about aside material things and other women, but if it is anything close to what these men gist about in the pub! That will be a problem.

Writing this piece was a challenge because it’s not in anyone’s place to determine what people talk about while hanging out. But when our discussions and actions are slowing down our impact, then someone needs to speak out.

ALSO SEE: 10 Black Men Who Whitened Their Skin.

However, I could not help but think about this, why is the issue of sex the only thing men wants to talk about? Everything that surrounds them is about sex. Their travels, movies, parties, health, cars, and even the reason some men work so hard is to eventually get laid! Another question that kept tossing in my head is what has happened to the great African male values? Those values that direct male conversations to issues of the community, honour, bravery, survival, and respect for women.

After considering the challenging situation of African migrants in Europe, one would have thought that African men only discuss survival and how to build a formidable community of African immigrants. But no! We rather have a heated discussion about loose women in our community and how to get into their pants!

Com’on! African Men… What is wrong with us? At what point did we lose our value for collectivism and respect for ourselves and our women?

The ‘he’ goat was famous for humping every ‘she’ goat it came across, even when he does that it still recognise priorities, and respect for the community. I am not by any means calling anybody a ‘he’ goat. All I am trying to say here is that there is a great need to respect our women and let’s be more focus on the bigger picture which to my opinion is the future of generations to come. We are here now, let’s a make a good use of this opportunity.

A relationship is an emotional or other connection between people, such as; relationship between teachers and students or a sexual involvement.

However, it is important to note that this relationship is not about the one between students and teachers, but a relationship that involves sexual intimacy and needs the best tips and techniques to enjoying a good relationship.

It is a well known fact that building such a relationship is a very difficult task. It needs a lot of patience, perseverance, devotion and tolerance. Before going into a real relationship, you need to first know what the relationship is all about and what you want from that same relationship. Secondly both of you need to know what attracted you to each other, both physically and emotionally.

If you want a relationship that will stay strong and long, below are 4 tips and techniques to enjoying a good relationship.

Importance Of Honesty in a Relationship

To start with, honesty is the most important tool for a good relationship. If you think you are in a serious relationship, you need to be very honest to your partner. Let your partner get involved in everything you do so there will be no suspicion. Honesty makes a relationship very healthy, it makes you feel comfortable and secured in that relationship, it gives you confidence and the zeal to move forward, it brings you joy and above all make you happy.

Nowadays, most couples think having frequent sex is a guarantee for a long lasting relationship; but that is not how reality have shown. There are so many people who just want sex without commitment. A relationship involves so many things other than sex. If you come across a partner who likes to talk only about sex and doesn’t dialogue about future plans, then be very sure he or she is not serious.

    Importance of Dialogue

Another interesting tip for a good relationship is dialogue:  Dialogue plays an important role in any relationship. Most couples have had divorce and breakups because they fail to discuss or have a dialogue on an issue. In order to maintain a good relationship, make sure you always dialogue with your partner to make things clear. In most relationships, we have the dominant and the submissive partner.  No one likes to be bossed around by their partners. In this regard if you have a domineering partner or spouse, their reactions will be very weird. First, they will never appreciate anything you do, they will discourage you from good friends, they will make you feel guilty at all times, and above all they could be very jealous.

Tips to use in a domineering relationship

    • Never fight back at a domineering partner
    • Let him/her know they are hurting you with their actions
    • Never tolerate this action for too long
    • If it persist, consult a counsellor and if it doesn’t  work,
    • Put the relationship to an end because it will take you no where

What patience can do for a relationship

Patience is also another important factor that contributes to a good relationship. A majority of todays couples lack patience. In this world, no one is perfect. There is this saying that “one’s meat; is another’s poison”. You might think you are the perfect person in a relationship and the other person is bad, but, it is very hard to meet partner who are both compatible.

Your partner’s behaviour might be different from yours; in this situation, you need time and patience for both of you to understand each other. The question here is how do you do that? Well it is very simple. First of all, you need to take some time and judge yourself. If your partner changed his or her behaviour towards you, do not just jump into conclusions.

The first thing to do is to ask yourself questions like why he or she has changed, what you are doing wrong, how he or she was before now.

When you must have analysed all these, then it will lead you to a dialogue which will bring about solutions to the problem. On the other hand, if you think the fault is not on your part, then it means your partner needs to change for the betterment of the relationship. In this case, all you need do is to have some patience and see if you can tolerate some things and help your partner through the change process.

Obama Lifted Up by the Pizza-man

On Sunday, while in Florida on his bus tour, President Barack Obama made an unannounced stop at the Big Apple Pizza and Pasta in Ft. Pierce and was lifted up by the pizza-man. The pizza-man is Scott Van Duzer, owner of the Big Apple Pizza and Pasta Italian restaurant.

Scott Van Duzer is 46-year-old, 1.9 metre tall (6ft 3in) and weighs 260 pounds.

When Obama entered the shop, he said, “Scott, let me tell you, you are like the biggest pizza shop owner I’ve ever seen,” according to a White House pool report.

After Obama was lifted up, he said “Look at that!” Man are you a powerlifter or what?” He continued, according to the pool, talking about Van Duzer’s big muscles. “Everybody look at these guns,” he said. “If I eat your pizza will I look like that?”

Africans Fight Against Race In Detroit

    2

African immigrants in Detroit have been fighting the U.S government for classifying them as “Whites” instead of as “Blacks”.

Sixty-one-year-old Mostafa Hefny, a Detroit immigrant has been trying so hard over the past 30 years to be officially recognised as a black man. Since he arrived United Sates in 1978, he has been trying to get his racial title and has even reached out to President Barack Obama for help.

According to Mostafa, he is proud to be a black man and an African man, “My classification as a white man takes away my black pride, my black heritage and strong black identity.”

Hefny told the News that he is a Nubian from the northern part of Sudan and the southern portion of Egypt. Nubians are an ancient group of Egyptians considered to be more African than Arab, but when she came to America, he was considered as a white man.

Hefny says that he has been maltreated and denied promotions because of his insistence that he is black. He claims that he lost out on a teaching position at Wayne State University in the early 1990s because the position was designated for a minority. He says that he did not qualify because he is classified as white.

“I have been awarded, inadvertently, the negative effects of being black such as racial profiling, stereotypes and disenfranchisement due to my Negroid features,” Hefny said. “However, the legal demand of my racial classification of ‘white’ prevents me from receiving benefits established for black people.”

In all, Hefny, who is currently unemployed and gets help from his family, says that he’s lost five jobs because of his battle to be classified as a black man. He filed a lawsuit against the U.S. government in 1997 to be classified as a black man, but that case was dismissed.

Hefny has reached out to the Justice Department and the United Nations to try to change his racial status. In June he wrote President Obama seeking help.

“I need your help,” Hefny’s letter said. “As you can see in the enclosed photo, I am a black man. My complexion is darker than yours. I was born and raised in Africa and you were not, yet you are classified as Black and I am classified as White.”

There is also an online petition trumpeting Hefny’s racial battle. The Association of Black Egyptian, Ethiopian, and Nubian Advocates – an organization that he co-founded – posted the petition and has collected 30 signatures as of Monday.

Hefny claims he has missed job opportunities due to being classified as White that has to be a first.
