According to a research that was published in 2008, women’s diet can determine the gender of babies they give birth to. The scientists say women who eat bananas around the time of conception have higher chances of having a male child than those who did not.
The research, that was carried out at the Universities of Exeter and Oxford say this is the first scientific evidence that proves women’s diet can influence the gender of their offspring.
According to the findings, women who consume more calories around the time of conception, and, in particular, eat more bananas, are more likely to have sons. Another element that was found to influence the gender of babies breakfast. Women who ate breakfast were discovered to have a higher chance of conceiving a boy while those who skip it are more likely to have a female child.
“We were able to confirm the old wives’ tale that eating bananas, and so having a high potassium intake, was associated with having a boy,” said Fiona Matthews, who led the study of 740 first-time mothers published in the Proceedings of the Royal Society B.
The researchers also added that women who take a high amount of calories while trying to conceive have a higher chance of having a male child. The ratio they said is from ten to 11 boys in every 20 births (chances of 50 per cent and above). They also explain the low level of calorie consumption among women in richer countries is the reason there is a decline in male births and those regions.
“Of women eating cereals daily, 59 percent had boys, compared with only 43 percent who bore boys in the group eating less than a bowlful per week.”
For would-be mothers who are looking forward to having a male child, Fiona told the NewScientist, “If you want a boy, eat a healthy diet with a high calorie intake, including breakfast.”
Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke’s reality show titled, “Jim Iyke Unscripted” enjoyed a massive view and major ratings since its debut on M-Net’s Africa Magic Entertainment 2 weeks ago. An episode where he had a public fight with his Jamaican fiancee, Keturah Hamilton was viewed severally and talked about by the audience who made different comments about Jim’s bad boy attitude.
However, Keturah Hamilton has come out to reveal she is no longer in a relationship with Jim Iyke as both of them have gone their own separate ways for a while now. She also claimed that Jim’s reality show and her role in it was all scripted.
Over the last few weeks, Jim has been spotted at various events including 2Face & Annie Idibia’s wedding in Dubai and his reality show launch party with Ghanaian actress Nadia Buari leading to speculation that the celebrities are in a romantic relationship.
However, Jim Iyke’s publicist has denied such speculations claiming that Jim and Kenturah are still in a relationship and cannot be dating Nadia.
Below is the press release from Kenturah’s PR representative, Jenny Garcia of MsMedia Public Relations.
Keturah Hamilton, Model, Actress, and Ex-Fiancée of Jim Iyke is ready to tell the real story after the Jim Iyke Unscripted show that was aired on April 17, 2013.
In a world where reality shows are an “In-thing” and bad behavior becomes the A.M. topic to cover, leave it to Jim Iyke Unscripted or better said the “_Scripted_” show to deliver real life drama. The episode that aired on April 17, 2013, did not disappoint the viewers who were glued to their TV’s watching Keturah Hamilton’s role that was none the less excellent! She was really able to bring her character to the next level of entertainment.
Keturah Hamilton had acted out an edgy script of jealousy and rage towards Jim Iyke, that was delivered as well as any actress in Hollywood. Keturah was so good that even her fans were astonished to see how well she acted and was able to challenge Jim on his bad behavior. Boldly, Jim gave Keturah the opportunity to exit the reality show based on the controversial episode. Even though a pre-recorded version of “Kiss and Make-up” was on stand-by to be aired, Keturah already had made her decision.
For the time being, Jim Iyke and Keturah Hamilton are no longer together because in reality, Jim’s bad boy behavior was just too overwhelming for the reality star. Keturah has decided to move on to the bigger and better things that her heart has long been looking to do. She quotes, “I wish Jim well on his show and hope that he matures into the man I always wanted him to be!”
Keturah is currently in a new, reality-based show called “Diamonds in the Rough”. We will see more of Keturah Hamilton on the big screen and on other future projects on the works because as they say, “It’s not over until the fat lady sings!”
What are your thoughts on the “Jim Iyke Unscripted” controversy? Did Kenturah and her team release this press release to add more buzz to her new reality show? Or, is she bittered by the constant public appearances between Nadia Buari and Jim Iyke?
Is it a combination of the two? We would like to know your thoughts.
It was a fun filled day at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner where President Obama lighted up the room as he pokes jokes at himself, JayZ, the CNN, Taylor Swift, MSNBC, Michelle Obama, Conan O’Brien, Rush Limbaugh, the History Channel, Fox and much more.
The funniest and remarkable one among them was the, “I’ve got 99 problems and now Jay-Z is one.” That was a phrase from Jay-z’s 2004 song titled, “99 Problems.”
Obama made the Jay-Z 99 problems joke while talking about Jay-Z and Beyonce’s wedding anniversary holiday in Cuba. The couple came under scrutiny for holidaying in Cuba because of the US economic embargo on the country. During the fury, a new track titled “Open Letter,” was released and it insinuated Jay-Z had spoken to Obama about their trip to Cuba.
Obama’s answer to the track was “saying, “I wasn’t familiar that they were taking the trip. You know, this is not something the White House was involved with. We’ve got better things to do.”
Hate him or love him, President Barack Obama is an extremely funny guy who is great with words. He also made fun of the former president, George Bush when he talked about “The Bush Library” and his plans to build another one by the side and name it “The Blame The Bush Library.”
Obama made a lot of punch lines during the speech and below are some of the most remarkable ones were;

The EPIC FALL moment that every model dread, tumbling in the runaway with loads of photographers ready to capture every moment of it. A Nigerian model had her own fair share of the experience as she went head over heels while walking in platform shoes and a knee-length printed dress. The model was modelling for the Nigerian fashion house Kinabuti in front of invited guests at the Italian consulate.
The Nigerian model is not the only one to have had such an experience, most models have. Even supermodel, Naomi Campbell had her EPIC FALL on the runway while wearing a pair of Vivienne Westwood heels at Paris Fashion Week in 1993.
While it must have been a very awkward moment for the Nigerian model, it is sure a buzz for her career and the label she was modelling for. The model’s fall made the news viral that a lot of media that would have ordinarily not featured the event did and therefore generating a lot of publicity and brand awareness for them.
Below is a photo and gif of Naomi Campbell when she had the epic fall in Paris in 1993. The pretty black supermodel could not help but laugh while she was on the floor after having the epic fall on the runway.
