Miss Teen Africa Pageant is a Beauty and Talent Pageant event to showcase young African women from the 56 Independent African countries.
Miss Teen Africa is the first beauty pageant to judge all the segments of beauty and talent such as physical presentation, etiquette, aptitude, knowledge of culture as well as general appeal including clothing and fashion without the use of nudity.
Miss Teen Africa Pageant is committed to taking the lead and promoting the growth and preservation of culture, gender equality, confidence, self worth, validity, women empowerment, social inclusion and a feeling of belonging between women of African descent all over the world.
The main objective of the beauty pageant is to support social cohesion, social inclusion, religious tolerance, proliferation of culture, education, as well as to empower young women of African heritage.
Every young woman that meets the criteria will be allowed to participate in the event. At the semi final stage, 25 contestants will be selected. A list of this year’s Oscar nominees is out. Taking the leads are three films that have earned between 9 – 10 nominations each. American Hustle and Gravity both received 10 nominations while12 Years a slavereceived among the leaders for the nominations for the 86th Academy Awards.
“This has been an amazing ride, and to receive nine nominations from the academy is testament to all of the hard work. And for that I am truly grateful,” said Steve McQueen, Director of 12 Years a Slave.
“I am particularly moved by Sandy’s nomination,” said Cuaron in a statement. “She is the heartbeat of our film. I thank her for her grace, her trust and her dedication to finding the truth of this character.”
British-Nigerian actor and Golden Globe nominee, Chiwetel Ejiofor was on the Ellen DeGeneres Show where he talked about Hollywood’s response to his name and his latest movie ’12 Years A Slave’.

Some of them includes the 2006 BAFTA Orange Rising Star Award, 5 Golden Globe Award nominations, and the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor for his performance in Othello in 2008.
Chiwetel Ejiofor was born in London’s Forest Gate on July 10 1977 to Nigerian parents. His father, Arinze, was a doctor, while his mother, Obiajulu, was a pharmacist. His younger sister is CNN correspondent Zain Asher

It’s another year, another edition of Africa Fashion week London, and another chance to become the Face Of Africa Fashion Week London. Once again, the the biggest African inspired fashion event in the UK is offering models the chance to compete and win the 2014 edition of the ‘Face of AFWL’.
The lucky model to win the Face of Africa Fashion Week London will represent the brand on different platforms such as major African Fashion and entertainment events in the UK, as well as model for the brand on the runway.
The 2014 edition of Africa Fashion Week London is scheduled to take place from 7th to 9th August at the Olympia Earls Court, London. The organisers intend to take the fantastic concept further to maintain its position as the largest platform for African Inspired fashion event in the UK.
In 2012, Edith Uba competed and won the “Face of AFWL” and took part in the promotional shoot at the event Spitalfields Market, modelled over the two days of the event and was consequently signed to Strike Models, one of the top modelling agencies in the UK.
The 2013 edition of the “Face of AFWL” was won by Regina Manneh who had a fantastic showings at the pre-event promotional shoots as well as on the event’s runway.
If you are a UK based model and would like to participate in the “Face of AFWL 2014” edition, visit the Africa Fashion Week London Facebook Page and apply by uploading a collage of one full length and one portrait image of yourself. You are also required to provide further information such as your name, age and stats (hair and eye colour, height, dress/suit size, measurements).
As a participant, you’re also expected to spread the word about the contest to generate the most number of votes for you. To participate in the competition, you should be a young man or woman between the ages of 18-24. Female competitors must be at least 5.7” tall and male 6.1”.
Previous modelling experience is ideal but not essential. The public voting will start on March 13 2014. Male and female competitors from all races are welcome to apply.
Africa Fashion Week London 2014 is also accepting applications from designers who wish to showcase their creations on the runway – as well as those that wish to exhibit their merchandise at the exhibition. Nigerian musician and higlife singer, Flavour N’abania, has released a new music video titled, ‘Ikwokrikwo’. The video, features Big Brother Africa 2013 winner, Dilish Matthews from Namibia. The video was directed by one of Nigeria’s top music video directors, Clarence Peters, and it is asingle from Flavour N’abania’s “Blessed” album.

The date for the next edition of Africa Fashion Week London has been made known. The yearly fashion event, that promotes and celebrates emerging and established African themed designers will be taking place between the 7th – 9th of August 2014.
The the event will last for a period of 3 days, and in that period, it will bring together all African designers and African inspired designers and provide a platform for them to showcase their work to a global audience.
The three days event will end with the red carpet grand finale where awards will be given to those recognised for the contributions they have made towards the growth of African fashion in the United Kingdom as well as worldwide. Other people to be recognised on that day are those that have contributed to the empowerment of women and youth in Africa.
As part of the Africa Fashion Week London event, there will be a Face of Africa Fashion Week London on Facebook, a Model Casting event, Photo shoots, Street Parade for Africa Fashion Week London, Fittings, Runway Shows, Fashion Expo and the Africa Fashion Week London 2014 Fashion Awards Banquet.
