    mide-martins-on-why-she-bleached

We wrote an article about 7 black women who made news for bleaching their skin. But these women are not the only bleached beauties whose images have gained popularity. Below are more photos of black women who whitened their skin colour. These bleached queens used different skin whitening methods that include skin bleaching creams, skin whitening pills, as well as a surgical method to achieve their new skin tone.

Some of them are celebrities while others are normal people who altered their skin colour and were very proud of showing off their newly acquired skin tone.

Mide Martins is a Nigerian actress who also bleached to achieve a whiter skin tone. She is a popular actress in the Yoruba sector of the Nigerian film industry. On why she changed her skin colour, Mide Martin told Ynaija.com:

“It is not a crime to me, it is not a crime to change your skin color. One thing I believe is that when you are fairer it brings out more beauty in you, so there is nothing wrong in lightning your skin a lil’ bit, just don’t overdo it. There is no offence in it after all it is not a legal offence….yes, there is this belief that Black is beautiful but it doesn’t fit some people. It is the truth, black doesn’t fit everybody but when you are fairer you become more beautiful and that is why I am prettier now. And in this our industry, that’s what sells the most. It is not as if you have to fair skinned to be in Nollywood but that is how I view it for myself. It is a personal decision so I lightened up a bit to become more beautiful and attractive and fit into major roles…and I don’t think I have overdone it, it’s just normal.”

10 Black Men Who Whitened Their Skin

    9

The number of black men who whitened their skin has kept on increasing. Bleaching is common among black women. But it is not limited to only women. Black men also bleach. The only difference is the percentage of men and women who bleach. One very popular black man who bleached his skin was Michael Jackson. The American pop star and iconic singer and dancer used creams, surgery, and other methods to whiten his skin and he was as white as a white man.

Even though Michael claimed he whitened his skin because he was suffering from vitiligo (a skin disorder that leaves with patches on the skin), the multiple awards winning artist went on to change his nose, hair, and other features to that of a Caucasian.

And the need for some black men to have a lighter skin tone has not changed. Below are 10 Black men who whitened their skin.

    Pele Okiemute

Black Men Who Whitened Their Skin

Popularly known as the Nigerian bleaching expert, Pele Okiemute is a Nigerian man who whitened his skin and made news around the time Dencia was trending with her bleaching and Whitenicious skin lightening products. Pele gained popularity when his before and after skin bleaching photos were shared online.

    Pele Okiemute’s Client

After controversially making fame as a bleaching expert, Pele shared a before and after bleaching transformation of this young man – claiming he is one of his clients. The bleaching expert shared the photos with the caption: “At Last, My Client has been successfully Transformed. It’s so sweet wen u spend money and u get d satisfaction u desire. Skin formula’s of d highest order signed pels International.”

    Benson Okonkwo

Black Men Who Whitened Their Skin

Benson Okonkwo is a Nigerian actor who whitened his skin. Even though he has denied bleaching his skin on several occasions, his before and after photos tells a different story. Standing by his claim of not bleaching his skin, the Nollywood actor said he achieved his fairer skin tone by constantly drinking a lot of water. Apart from being blasted for whitening his skin, Benson has been accused of being gay due to the way he dresses and poses on images he shares online. The Nollywood actor and model was relatively unknown until he was blasted for bleaching his skin and being gay.

    Alao Akala

Black Men Who Whitened Their Skin

Adebayo Alao-Akala is the former governor of Oyo State in Nigeria and was known by man as #TheBleachingGovernor. Even though this Nigerian politician has denied bleaching his skin to become fairer, the disagreement between his knuckles and other parts of his body says otherwise. In an interview with Adeola Balogun and Tunde Odesola, Alao-Akala was confronted with the question of whether he was bleaching his body. “You are very silly” for asking such a question, Alao told the interviewer.

“Bleach? That is stupidity; you are asking a very silly question, how can I bleach? You are very silly to ask that question. What do you mean by that? What gave you that impression?

(He pulled up his clothes and singlet to show his fair complexion.)

“Is this bleaching? Have you seen the cream that I use that makes me bleach or did you know me when I was black? So if you want to write that, put it there that I said you are very silly to ask me that kind of question. Don’t ask that kind of question again. What you don’t know; you ask. You don’t even know my parents. Is my wife complaining or my children? I don’t know what gave anybody the impression that I bleach. You don’t know me; do you know what it takes to bleach?,” the former governor said.

    Vybz Kartel

Vybz Kartel is a Jamaican reggae and dancehall artist who whitened his skin and did not make a secret about transforming his skin tone. When asked about the skin tone change the artist said it was the same as white people tanning their skin to look brown.

“This is my new image. You can expect the unexpected. I feel comfortable with black people lightening their skin. They want a different look. It’s tantamount to white people getting a sun tan,” he said.

    Sammy Sosa

Sammy Sosa is a retired professional baseball player who whitened his skin. The former sportsman played with four Major League Baseball teams over a 19-year career and was a great hitter in Major League Baseball in the 1990s and early 2000s. He started bleaching in 2009, after retiring from professional baseball. Since then, he has remained in the news for whitening his skin. Speaking about his new look, Sosa said: “It’s a bleaching cream that I apply before going to bed and whitens my skin some. It’s a cream that I have, that I use to soften my skin, but has bleached me some. I’m not a racist, I live my life happily.”

    Don André

Don André is a UK-based dancehall deejay who whitened his skin and bragged about it in his single titled, ”Bleach Out.”

“I’m so brown and I am proud of it. Mi madda dead suh nuhbody cyah tell mi how fi live. Mi still a bleach nuh matta how mi skin a strip. Jah kno, mi like when girls ask how mi duh it… Bleach out until me get white mi. Colour higher than a satellite. I’m so white, I’m so white,” the artist sings.

    Alkaline

Alkaline is another dancehall artist who whitened his skin. The young Jamaican deejay shared his whitened skin photos on his Facebook page and they immediately went viral. His fans started calling him a copycat saying he was trying to be like Vybz Kartel. In the transformation photos, Alkaline is not only seen with a whitened skin tone, but with long straightened hair and excessive body tattoo. In the before picture, he is wearing a school uniform with his original skin tone still intact.

    Checkdhat

Checkdhat is another dancehall artist who whitened his skin. The artist who also pierced and tattooed his eyes wrote, was proud of the result he got from using skin bleaching creams and products. “This is not even bleaching no more its a miracle me @ 15 n 20,” he wrote.”

    Fraink White

Fraink White is a Youtuber who whitened his skin and is very proud of it. He says he’s a lifestyle and natural skincare vlogger and most of his videos are about skin bleaching.

How To Become A Millionaire In The Next 5 Years

    2

Want to become a millionaire? Making it happen in the next five years doesn’t have to be a fantasy. That’s the view of Steve Siebold, 50, author of How Rich People Think. Siebold, a self-made millionaire who consults for corporate sales teams and gives speeches across the country, says that in fact, people over 50 have the advantage when it comes to getting rich. That’s right: 50 is the new 40.

“It’s easier to get rich at 50, even 60 or 70, than it is to get rich at 30,” Siebold says. “There’s no question of that in my mind. Older people have the life experience that a kid just doesn’t have. Maybe [younger people] know more about technology, but we lived longer and know the ups and downs of life. In creating a fortune or financial independence, there are going to be ups and downs. Older people have a great, great advantage to get wealthier way faster. And it’s so ripe for the taking.”

Siebold, a Chicago native, says most people have a lottery mentality and have been brainwashed to believe that the only chance to get rich is by picking winning numbers or playing slot machines. The rich, however, have trained themselves to expect big things to happen and earn more money. They’re bold, aggressive and fearless in their pursuit of wealth.

“What the wealthy have taught me over the years is to look at your beliefs around money, success, prosperity, and rich people,” he says. “Ask yourself: ‘Is that helping me develop more wealth and build my net worth, or is it holding me back?’ I think 95 percent of the population, in even the richest country in the world, have negative beliefs about money. After a year or two of interviews [for this book], I realized why I was broke.”

ALSO SEE: Kanye West Says He Has A $53 Million Debt.

The average American needs to stop looking at money from a fear and scarcity point of view, and start seeing money through the eyes of freedom, possibility, opportunity and abundance, Siebold says.

“Look at your beliefs and look at the beliefs of the wealthy and how they think about money,” he says. “They see it as a game. They’re just playing a game, and they’re having fun. They’re moving things, and they’re creating value for society, and they’re getting richer all the time. It’s more about thinking about money in terms of abundance and opportunity and freedom and all the good things, such as good health. Money can save your life if you have enough of it, because you can pay for treatment for whatever you have.”

Siebold has failed with businesses over the years but has learned more from those failures than he has from his successes. Failure, he says, makes you analyze what you did wrong. Worrying about failure, however, holds people back from taking a chance and being successful. We shouldn’t be our own worst enemies – look at the rich; they’ve brainwashed themselves with positive belief so they’re not as afraid to take the chances and risk.

“What holds people back is more a lack of belief,” Siebold says. “It’s the fear that ‘I won’t recover. What if I start a business and I fail?’ I’ve done that, and a lot of people have done that. You start over. You find a way to make it work. One of the things I saw from wealthy people from the beginning is that they had this unwavering belief that no matter what they did or if they failed, they would find a way to recover. Most said that’s a belief they had to build in themselves. They had to tell themselves, ‘if I lose everything, I’m not going to die. I’m going to make it. I will make it all back and more.’ And that’s what they do. They’re not born with this. They talk themselves into it while the rest of us are talking ourselves out of it.”

ALSO SEE: Learning About A Business Through Its Founder.

Getting rich is not a complex process. You don’t even have to be a genius, Siebold says. It’s about creating a value proposition, and the bigger value you create for your customer, company or individual, the richer you get.

“You create value if you mow one lawn,” Siebold says. “You create more wealth if you mow 100 lawns. Looking at it as complex prevents people from acting and becoming wealthy.”

With the country emerging from the Great Recession, Siebold contends the streets are “paved with gold.”

Millionaires are paying more for personal services than they ever have. If you can solve a problem that people and companies are willing to pay for, you can make an endless amount of money, Siebold says. He says it’s a perfect time for many people to start lawn care services, maid services, handyman businesses, pool cleaning companies, or grocery shopping services.

Companies are sitting on trillions of dollars that they will spend if it creates value. People older than 50, maybe they’re retired or still working in the corporate world, have a lot of experience and expertise that they can sell to companies as a consultant. You can become a millionaire later in life even if you have little now, he says.

“I don’t think it’s too late at all if you’re over 50,” Siebold says. “I know I expect to earn 10 or 20 times the money in the next five years than I earned in the last five or the five before that, simply because there’s so much opportunity out there in the marketplace. We have a society that’s hoarding cash, especially corporate America, and they’re very confused about how to proceed. There’s a lot of fear mindset of not knowing how stable the economy is. The wealthy are getting wealthier, and they’re buying personal services like they’re going out of style. There are all kinds of services that people can start to sell to the wealthy. That’s where the money is.”

ALSO SEE: Harare Hustler: Street Wear With “Swagger” By Terrie Mahati.

In his book, Siebold interviewed billionaire Rich DeVos, co-founder of Amway and owner of the NBA’s Orlando Magic, and billionaire entrepreneur Sam Wyly. Most, however, weren’t famous and don’t like any publicity.

“Most of these millionaires that I’ve interviewed are normal people like you, me and everybody else,” he says. “They’re not Rhodes Scholars. They’re average people who changed their mindset and went to work. Most are not living in giant mansions. They’re living quietly. They’re our neighbors, but they have millions of dollars in the bank. They never worry about money and never have to worry about it again.”

Bleached Beauty: 7 African Women Who Made News

    3

Bleached beauty has become a popular term as we see more and more women whiten their skin claiming they looked beautiful being lighter and do not feel the same way with dark skin shade.

Bleached beauty was the hashtag a trending hashtag in 2014 when a Kenya model and socialite made news for bleaching her skin.

Many Nigerians, Africans, and dark-skinned people all over the world have internalized and reinforced the message that whiter is better. And with this trend still moving upward, dark-skinned women are gradually becoming a minority among women of colour all over the world.

According to a 2013 report by the World Health Organisation (WHO), Nigeria has the highest percentage of women who use skin-lightening products. A whopping 77 percent, the report says. In Togo, about 59 percent of the women use skin whitening products, while in Senegal, 27 percent of their women bleach.

Whether it is skin lightening, toning, whitening, or brightening, whichever fancy name these women chose to describe the process – the goal is the same.

While there are several black women who have chosen to alter the colour of their skin, these 7 bleached beauties made news headlines for their drastic skin colour change and became famous for it. And some of them even became famous and made more money after bleaching and changing their skin colour.

This was during her Essence Black Women in Hollywood speech after winning an Oscar and was the media darling.

The topic became very heated from the controversy and Dencia’s constant attack on the “Twelve Years A Slave” star for talking about her product. Dencia made sure she made a lot of news from the publicity. And she actually received a lot of attention and was interviewed by international and well-known media houses. And according to the “Beri Beri” singer, the controversy brought her a lot of sales.

I am just doing it because I am comfortable with it and I don’t even think about the negative part of it.”

In 2012, the bleached beauty model made news headlines when she was accused of stealing a makeup kit and a mobile phone belonging to Miss England. Mariam denied the theft allegation but was consequently stripped of her Ghana Most Beautiful title.

    Proud Facebook Bleached Queen

The young women above made news last year after bleaching her skin and making a viral post. She made a collage of her before and after skin whitening photos and made a post insulting black women with dark skin. She said there was nothing beautiful about being black. Ironically, she also “No matter what. You are stuck being a nigger and you will always be one,” even after saying she was prettier being lighter.

She wrote: “I bleached my skin and I’m proud. Here’s me before and after. I shit on you dark-skinned people. I feel sorry for you because you really shouldn’t be proud of looking dirty. I have been told that I look much better now and finally black men stopped saying I’m too pretty for a dark-skinned girl. Now I’m a pretty light-skinned girl. No matter what. You are stuck being a nigger and you will always be one. You people better go interracial because ain’t nothing cute about being dark and having dark tar babies.”

    Unknown Bleached Beauty

The bleached beauty above got her 15 minutes of fame when she posted a photo of her before and after skin whitening photos online. The photo went viral and got many people talking.

5 Lessons You Can Learn from Claire Underwood

    1

Claire Underwood is the female character in House of Cards. The House of Cards’ leading lady isn’t perfect, but she can teach important things about success, love, and fitness.

Real-Life Takeaways from the Fictional First Lady

If you’ve spent weekends binging on Netflix’s House of Cards, you aren’t alone. Over the past month, millions have tuned in to see (spoiler alert!) Congressman Frank Underwood, Kevin Spacey, ascend first to the office of Vice President while his loyal wife, Claire, Robin Wright, navigates the power-hungry halls of Washington.

Despite the viciousness of Frank’s professional climb, Claire is arguably the show’s most compelling (and controversial) character in Season 2. She stands up for personal issues that hit home, like sexual assault, and works hard for a nonprofit.

Watching this anti-heroine navigate personal and professional speed bumps coldly and precisely is fascinating, frightening, and also a little enlightening. Claire is flawed in many ways, and her circumstances are exaggerated and unique, but her personal and professional missions are relatable—and can help you in your own life.

    Find Time for Fitness

Claire lets off steam and spends some quality time with her husband during twilight jogs, and if the Second Lady can find time for a run, you can too. Whether you’re into lifting, Pilates, or (like the Underwoods) rowing, studies have shown working out with your man helps build togetherness. Try some of these eight active date ideas designed to strengthen your bond and your body, or if you’re exercising alone, tell your guy or a friend. Letting someone know of your commitment ahead of time can be enough to hold you accountable and get you on that treadmill.

    Don’t Burn Bridges

Early in the show’s first season, Claire asks her office manager to fire a number of employees. When the deed is done, that office manager receives her pink slip as well—a move that comes back to bite Claire when the manager leaks information about Claire’s romantic affair.

Emotional intelligence, or knowing how you and others will react to situations, is a key to workplace success, and not being able to appropriately read people is almost as dangerous as not appropriately knowing yourself. [Tweet this fact!] “Claire’s emotional intelligence when it comes to maintaining her composure is high,” says health coach Elizabeth Rider, “but she doesn’t recognize that other people, like her office manager, can be significantly more reactive.” If you need to let someone go, stick with honesty and empathy, not the funny business that Claire enacted. You never know where people will end up or if you’ll need them in the future.

    Be Honest

There’s a lot of talk throughout House of Cards about Claire’s history of pregnancies and her always-changing desire to have kids. (Remember when she visited the doctor on her own?) But Francis is clear: He doesn’t want a little Underwood.

While one shudders to think what cold-as-ice Claire would be like as a mother, she clearly feels some semblance of regret for not trying. Having a child is something men and women need to discuss before they get married, says psychologist and relationship coach Karen Sherman. Be sure to discuss all the big things prior to your vows.

    Challenge Your Man

Claire Underwood knows Francis is an imperfect man (come on, she appears aware of her husband’s murderous streak without having any desire to stop him). But when he seems about ready to give up on his intricate scheme and reveal all to the president, Claire gives Francis a pep talk for the ages that changes his mind.

Assuming your relationship is a little more conventional (and that, you know, you’re not trying to psyche your husband up to destroy the most powerful person in the world), knowing when to challenge your guy is important. Sherman says calmly asking him if he’s considered alternative decisions is the best way to give him that push. [Tweet this tip!] Just remember: Validate him before questioning him by telling him you admire his passion or thoughtfulness.
