Since Nigeria signed it anti-gay rights bill, there has been a lot of media attention surrounding country and it’s gay rights bill. While a majority of Nigerians are in support of the bill, some have come out to condemn it.
Outside Nigeria, the UK and the European Union have expressed their disappointment towards the bill. In this video, Nigerian gay rights activist, Bisi Alimi speaks to CNN’s Christiane Amanpour and talks about why he went on the Nigerian national TV to announce he was gay.
He also talked about leaving Nigeria to the UK due to his persecution after coming out about his sexuality, as well as the much discussed anti-gay bill that has been signed in by President Goodluck Jonathan.
