    The UK’s Only Website Dedicated To African-Caribbean Theatre Shortlisted For Major Creative Industry Award

    After nearly a decade of featuring the best African and Caribbean theatre and creative arts from across the UK, Afridiziak Theatre News has been shortlisted for the Favourite Arts & Entertainment/Lifestyle Site/Mag award in the Screen Nation Digital-iS Media awards 2016.

    Afridiziak was founded by Sophia A Jackson, a communications professional with extensive experience as a journalist and editor, events manager and as a digital PR/marketing expert. In 2003, Sophia made one of her best life decisions to date, studying for a master in journalism studies at The University of Westminster. It was there that she was able to turn her dreams into reality by learning the proverbial tricks of the journalism trade. Through work experience, she started writing for black community news website Black Information News [Blink]. Sophia then went on to become listings editor for New Nation newspaper. Since then Sophia has secured a number of journalism opportunities, particularly within the African-Caribbean entertainment industry.

    Sophia founded Afridiziak Theatre news in September 2008 and since its launch, it has become the one stop guide for the latest news, reviews and interviews in the world of theatre from an African-Caribbean perspective. Afridiziak Theatre News has proudly supported the following theatres in the promotion and marketing of their productions – Oval House, Royal Shakespeare Company, National Theatre, Royal Court, Theatre Royal Stratford East, Talawa Theatre Company, Sadler’s Wells, Barbican, The Albany, Young Vic, Bush Theatre, Tiata Fahodzi, The Tricycle, Cutty Sark Studio and Unicorn Theatre.

    The Screen Nation Digital-iS Media awards is a continued recognition and celebration of diversity in the UK and international digital media. The Awards ceremony presentations will be hosted by media stars Joivan Wade, Percelle Ascott and Dee Kaat and streamed live via YouTube, with highlights of the event broadcast on a Sky channel at a later date.
