Oxjaming It Up! Who Said Charity Events Have To Be Boring?

Shoreditch was the happening place to be last Sunday. With over forty diverse talented artists spread across four different venues, it was an outstanding sight to see. All the artists, supporters, and volunteers were exclusively there for a common cause. To help others!  Each artist brought something new and tasteful to the stage, whether it was rapping, singing, or the sweet flow of poetry, they were all oxjaming it up. There were artists such as Mikel Ameen, Jody Brock, Aja Monet, and Daddy’s Girls, just to name a few. And the atmosphere across all four venues was both incredible and electrifying.

The Oxjam Shoreditch event was a combination of fundraising and entertainment. The main reason for the event was to achieve their objective, which is to raise as much money as possible to help Oxfam tackle the disturbing poverty and suffering around the world. The two were also combined to provide an amazing, entertainment experience whilst doing so. Talk about killing two beds with one stone.

It’s seven years on since when Oxjam first began. They now have on board, a network of supportive, talented, and creative people who take time out to unite every October. Their mission is to help those who are less fortunate than they are (Is that not amazing?).

Oxjam is well known for a number of successful events and many high profile celebrities such as Fatboy Slim and Damon Albam. They have become the major supporters of their various fundraising projects. These range from their multi-venue takeovers and their sponsored busk on top of mountains. However, it is their music festivals, that really get the heartbeat of the charity pumping.

With their millions of volunteers across fifty five countries and hundreds of Oxjam events taking place throughout October, it is with little wonder that volunteers are able to take their love for music and organize their own gigs in their local community, which reflects the local diversity. These gigs feature many established and up and coming artists who all have superb talents, (take it from me!).

As the end of October fast approaches, I am not sure what your calendar looks like for the remainder of this month. But Oxjam events have already filled mine up. If you have unfortunately missed out this month, be sure to attend and support Oxjam next year. With the opportunity to help make a difference whilst being entertained or contributing to the entertainment, it is hard to say no … right?
