Oxjam Shoreditch Takeover Festival Sunday 20th October 2013

“THE ONLY THING MORE EXCITING THAN PUTTING ON YOU OWN EVENT TO HELP FIGHT POVERTY IS KNOWING THAT YOU’RE PART OF A MOVEMENT OF THOUSANDS OF GIGS, CLUBS NIGHTS AND EVENTS RIGHT ACROSS THE COUNTRY” – JAMES FROM THE KLAXONS

Launched in 2006, Oxjam is Oxfam’s month-long music festival. A music festival made up of hundreds of events around the UK in October. All Oxjam events are organised entirely by volunteers who know and love their local music scene. Since its inception, OVER 3,500 events have taken place, showcasing 45,500 musicians, with over 1.000,000 people attending. Raising over £2 million pound all in aid of Oxfam: enough to provide safe water for 2 million people, buy 80,000 goats or feed 4000 communities.

Following their 2012 success, they are back in 2013 to take East London by storm with the ‘Oxjam Shoreditch Takeover Festival’. They have joined forces with four of the most established venues in Shoreditch. On October 20th, Oxjam Shoreditch Takeover Festival will play host to an amazing, eclectic mix of 40 artist and bands from the soulful tones of -BBC One’s hit show ‘The Voice’ Finalist Matt Henry, the Indie sounds of Jodie Vs Everyone, the female UK rapper Little Simz, to the upbeat electro synths of Nina. You can view the full line up here.

The Oxjam Shoreditch team is made up of leaders in the music, events and art’s world, all working in collaboration to create this truly magical night to raise £5000 for Oxfam.
