Nicki Minaj is putting some of her makeup to good use by partnering with M.A.C. Cosmetics. Her gorgeousness is to raise awareness of the HIV/AIDS crisis in the Caribbean. In addition, Minaj has been awarded the task of being the spokesperson for M.A.C Cosmetics on their new campaign.
The artist recently joined M.A.C Cosmetics to give voice to the M.A.C. AIDS Fund VIVA GLAM campaign. The objectives of these campaigns are to raise awareness of the disease among young people.
The singer appeared on Good Morning America with her campaign partner Ricky Martin where she said the issue was personal to her. Furthermore, she said the campaign was part of promoting her family’s heritage.
The superstar revealed that his uncle who live in Trinidad, died as a resulting of contacting AIDS. She said that is why the campaign is important because it’s about her family, and her country. For this reason, she collaborated with M.A.C. Cosmetics and we spoke a lot about going to the Caribbean islands and raising awareness there.
According to the artist, the campaign will not only be in the Caribbean, they also want to carry it out universally. According to Nicki Minaj, AIDS doesn’t discriminate based on nationality or sexual orientation. Nicki also added that it is important for people from the islands to have knowledge about HIV/AIDS, meaning it is not something that should only be discussed in America.
“AIDS is killing a lot of people today, especially Black women, I don’t want people to think that this is a gay disease or disease of the 80s”, she said. AIDS is a disease that kills people, no matter your preference, your religion or your race. Nicki Minaj, who currently appears on the covers of both New York and Vibe magazine, released a new single, title “Spaceships”.
