A Nigerian-British man known as Jeffrey Okafor (pictured above) has been arrested in Nigeria and is expected to be extradited to the United Kingdom where he fled from after being declared wanted by the British police on suspicion of killing DJ Carl Beatson Asiedu outside a London nightclub.
His arrest came after a Facebook appeal was made to help arrest the murder suspect who is trying to evade justice.
His arrest by the Nigerian police took place on Tuesday, September 23, 2014.
Jeffrey Okafor is suspected to be one of the people that took Carl Beatson Asiedu’s life on August 1, 2009, outside a London nightclub Vauxhall, in south London.
Carl Beatson Asiedu (pictured above) known by his stage name DJ Charmz was a popular entertainer well known in the London clubbing scene and had been featured in a BBC children’s show known as MI High.
The 19-year-old DJ had performed was killed after performing at the Club Life nightclub in Goding Street. Â He was stabbed in the heart after a fight broke out between his friends and another group.
In an appeal made by the victim’s father at the 5th anniversary of his son’s death, John Asiedu spoke of how his son’s death have been giving him heartache.
“I still feel the pain and get a lump in my throat whenever his tragic death crosses my mind, or when I hear that someone has been stabbed to death”, he said.
“Part of me died with him and I have to carry on living with what is left of me. Carl’s tragic death has changed my view of life, people, the justice system and the world.”
