Milan is preparing to host the 22nd African, Asian and Latin American Film Festival. More than 60 films will be screened during the festival which will take place from 19th to 25th March 2012.
It is organized by the Centro Orientamento Educativo (COE) Association, a non-governmental organization which has been working for several years on the promotion and distribution of cinema from the three continents.
African, Asian and Latin American Film Festival is an opportunity to meet and become acquainted with the themes and languages of new movies which are, mostly, unknown to Italian audiences.
The film festival will have four sections.
“Windows on the World” Feature Film Competition will feature fiction films made by directors from Africa, Asia and Latin America.
“Windows on the World” Documentary Competition will feature documentaries made by directors from Africa, Asia and Latin America.
Best African Film Competition will feature fiction films from the most recent African production.
African Short Film Competition will feature short films – fiction and documentary by African directors.
Extr’A Section, a special section for Italian filmmakers, will feature films (fiction and documentary) on the three continents or on issues related to immigration and racism in Italy.
Some of the films competing for the Best African Film Award are “Matière grise” by Kivu Ruhorahoza from Rwanda, “Always Brando” by Ridha Behi from Tunisia and “Man on ground” by Akin Omotoso from Nigeria.
