American First Lady, Michelle Obama wore this stunning Carolina Herrera gown to the white house state dinner that was organised to honour President Francois Hollande of France. The event took place on Tuesday night, February 11th. Michelle’s black and blue dress, designed by a Venezuelan-American designer, Carolina Herrera – is said to worth a whopping $12,000.
According to Susan Swimmer, author of Michelle Obama: First Lady of Fashion and Style, Michelle’s dress reflected French aesthetics, from the intricate beaded black bodice to the train and full skirt in a colour known as liberty blue.
“From the White House to Versailles it’s not that far,’ said Susan. ‘It’s much more keeping in a French aesthetic than I’ve seen her wear before. It’s very French in terms of how ornate it is and the use of lace and the velvet sash.”
