Margaret Thatcher, UK’s “Iron Lady” and former prime minister is dead. She was 87 and the cause of her death is stroke.

Thatcher was the first and only woman to become a prime minister in the UK. Serving under the UK conservative, she held the post of the prime minister from 1979 until 1990. “She was in office for a long time,” Declaud-Williams said. “There are few prime ministers who have done as much.”

“It is with great sadness that Mark and Carol Thatcher announced that their mother Baroness Thatcher died peacefully following a stroke this morning.” Lord Bell, her spokesman said.

“We’ve lost a great leader, a great prime minister and a great Briton,” Prime Minister David Cameron said.
