Gone are the days some of them were nicknamed Aba mass production customers. Today, many of them or either wearing pieces from top Nigerian designers or other international designers, and Ini Edo is one of the celebrities in the middle of the trend.
The Nollywood actress has updated her fashion game to the level where many of her fans look forward to her fashion style and use it as a reference point to influence and reference their own fashion. As such, we have seen the actress and former wife of Philip Ehiagwina evolve in her fashion style.
The Nollywood diva who began her acting career around 2000, got married to her American based husband in 2008. At the time, the marriage was enmeshed in a lot of controversies as Philip’s former wife came out to call Ini Edo a ‘husband snatcher’ and a ‘home breaker’ claiming Philips was still married to her at the time he was getting married to Ini. This led to huge media attention and backlash to the couple.

Being in love and resolved to forge a future together, the couple ignored all the controversies and went on to tie the knot. At the early stage of the marriage, Philip was mostly based in Nigeria and followed her wife everywhere. At a point, some people began calling him a handbag that goes everywhere with his wife. But as time goes on, Philip began to spend more time in America while Ini Edo spent the majority of her time in Nigeria and continuing with her acting career. At this stage, people began asking questions and wondered whether everything was going fine with the couple’s marriage. The couple stayed silent and continue to focus on their lives.
In 2014 however, six years after the couple married, the couple could no longer sustain the relationship and opted for a divorce. Since then, Ini Edo has remained single and continued her acting career in combination with working with the Akwa Ibom government. She is also very active on Instagram where she shares her fashion and her interesting African print styles to her followers.
Whether it is making an outfit from just ankara African print or combining it with other fabrics to make it more interesting, Nigerian celebrities are now at the top of their game.
The are also now more creative with the way they complete their look with the kind of shoes and accessories they add to coordinate their attire for the right look.
Hate her or love her, the Nollywood actress has come a long way in the Nigerian entertainment industry where she has made a name for herself and now one of the household names in the Nigerian entertainment scene.
Today, if the actress is not acting, she is representing a brand as an ambassador or working with the government.
