British actor and father of two, Idris Elba sets a new record by becoming the first man ever to cover popular magazine – Maxim. The magazine is known for using almost nude women on its cover.
Idris Elba has the honour of being the first man ever to be featured on the cover of Maxim magazine. The Magazine is famous for putting half naked women on its cover. This time around, they decided to do something different by featuring a man. And Idris was picked as the right choice.
On how Idris Elba was the obvious choice, Kate Lanphear the editor-in-chief of Maxin magazine said:
“There was no one else in the world more badass than Idris. For me, he was really the perfect embodiment of what I think the new Maxim man is. He’s multi-dimensional, he’s complex, he’s sophisticated, but he’s down to earth.”
The 43-year-old actor, best known for his portrayal of drug lord and aspiring businessman Russell “Stringer” Bell in the HBO series The Wire is featured on the magazine’s September issue.
