The dates for the 2012 Africa in Motion (AiM) Film Festival has been confirmed by the organisers. AiM is one of UK’s largest film festivals. The festival will commence on Thursday the 25th of October 2012 and end on Friday the 2nd of November 2012 at the Filmhouse Cinema, Edinburgh & Glasgow Film Theatre (GFT), Glasgow. This year will be the first time the Africa in Motion Film Festival will be taking place at the Glasgow Film Theatre (GFT).

This year, the festival will be organised for the 7th time and its purpose is to emphasise Africa’s important role in the modern world. Themed “Modern Africa” the festival will focus on films and events that represent Africa as part and parcel of the modern, globalised world – the urban, the new, the provocative, the innovative and experimental.

The film screenings will be accompanied by a wide range of complementary events such as directors’ Q&As and masterclasses, workshops, discussions, music performances and an arts exhibition. The festival will continue its much anticipated annual short film competition, as we ll as launch a call for entries for films linked with the theme of Modern Africa. An academic symposium on African Popular Culture will further enhance the festival theme.

The full programme will be announced on September 24th, and will be available at: Africa in Motion (AiM) Film FestivalFilmhouse Cinema and Glasgow Film Theatre.
