Every July, Paris Tropical Carnival winds its way through the city streets. The event, which comes just after World Music Day, brings the vibrancy and passion of the Caribbean to the French capital on July 7th.
No fewer than 2,000 singers, dancers and musicians don colourful costumes and make their way from Place de la Nation to Place de Pantin on foot or aboard decorated floats. Crowds of up to 40,000 locals and visitors line the route to cheer them on and soak up the electric atmosphere. The carnival is a wonderful celebration of cultural diversity, peace and freedom.
Although the carnival is labelled as Caribbean Carnival it’s in reality a multicultural festival with groups from all over the world.
