5 Ways to Rejuvenate Your Mind and Body This Summer

Everybody’s favorite season is finally here. Time to get outside, hang with friends, and enjoy the sun. It’s about time, too! From the depressing Game of Thrones ending to our current political Broadway show, we the people are burnt out and need a reason to celebrate. To reclaim your best self, here are five easy ways to rejuvenate your mind and body this summer.

1. Start Your Day Right

If you want to make this summer all about rejuvenation, put energy and time into making the first few hours of your daily work for you. Examine your habits. Do you wake up and immediately check your phone? Or do you move from the bed straight to the couch to see what’s on TV? These habits are distracting and will keep you from harnessing your true potential.

This summer, try adding a few of these morning time rituals:

  • Power hour – Enjoy the first hour of your day without checking your phone. Leave it plugged in and charging. And no peeking! Whoever texted you last night can wait sixty minutes for your attention. You, on the other hand, need your attention to focus on how to make this a great day.
  • Lemon water – It’s a tip you’ve probably heard mentioned before. Drinking lemon water right after you wake up cleanses you inside and out. It’s also known to decrease bloating throughout the day.
  • Healthy breakfast – Everybody loves their go-to morning food. Maybe that’s cereal, toast, or a peanut butter sandwich. But did you know that our morning meal can direct our food intake and digestion for the entire day? Starting with fruits and a healthy breakfast will keep your body and mind ready to face the trials and tribulations of the day.
  • Get ahead – Do you have goals? Do you have places to be? Of course, you do. Use this summer to boost yourself and your productivity. If you have some unfinished project you’ve been putting off, take that phoneless hour in the morning as an opportunity to focus, work hard, and get ahead.

2. Vitamin D

Summertime, summertime! Laying at the beach, relaxing at the pool, absorbing a healthy dose of vitamin D, sunshine is what it’s all about. Being out in the sun for just twenty minutes can boost your mood, protect you from many forms of cancer, and strengthen your bones. Of course, there is a limit. If you plan to be out in the sun for a while, find a sunscreen with natural ingredients to work with your skin.

Summer Eats

There are three categories of summer eats to rejuvenate your best self.

  • Summer fruits and veggies – Eating with the seasons is known to boost your immune system and take your health to the next level. This is perfect because summer has all the best stuff. Avocados, blueberries, corn, mangos, strawberries, tomatoes, and watermelon are all in season, which means eat these to your heart’s content.
  • Treat yourself – You’ve heard how the media speaks. Summertime is all about beach bodies and weight loss and diet and blah, blah, blah. While eating healthy is important, so is taking care of the inner you. And the inner you love BBQ every once in a while.
  • Extra vitamins and minerals – For an added boost to your day, try some different supplements. B12 is known to have positive effects on your brain. Bromelain and quercetin are great for healing an active body. Whatever you need, there’s a vitamin for it.

4. Find Your Style

Swimsuit weather is here. Be sure you have your wardrobe stocked with pieces that will make you excited to check the mirror. If you don’t have these, grab your friends and head to the mall. Remember, this summer is about being your best self! To be your best self, you have to dress like your best self.

5. Boost Your Physique

Wherever you are on the fitness spectrum, there’s always room to add in some exercise. Even if it’s just adding in an extra walk in the morning or evening, small changes can lead to huge improvements. Exercise keeps your body and mind working at peak condition and helps you enjoy the summer more fully.

Remember to Listen, Breath

Spending your days out in the sun with friends is great. That’s what summer was made for. But always remember that the best way to cultivate a healthy body and a healthy mind is to listen to yourself and do what’s right for you. Every now and again try to stop whatever you’re doing and take a deep breath. This way you can keep your summertime rejuvenation on track.
