In Cairo, no one ever dreamt of having a white Christmas this year, but it seems like that is what they are going to get. The country was hit with the worst snowstorm in more than 50 years, spreading over the Middle East, as well as overtaking Cairo, Jerusalem and parts of Syria.

For over 100 years, this is the first time that Egypt had seen snow. Pictures of snowballs fights, white landscapes and trees were uploaded to Instagram. However, in areas like Palestine, some were caught off guard.

The United Nations says they are worried about the situation because of the refugees that will be caught in the cold.

According to Al Jazeera, many families will not get support from the UN because the are not registered with the organisation.

Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv, Israel, was left with no choice, but to temporarily close its doors after its main highway were clogged with snow.
