What to Do With A Piece Of Construction Paper

What to do with a piece of construction paper? Well, it’s called construction paper for a reason. This is strong paper made of pulp particles that can be used to create a variety of projects. Construction paper is acid free and is often fade-proof. You can buy or order this paper in virtually any color. This type of paper comes in packs that comprise 25 to 50 sheets. Many packs are standard paper size and are compatible with most inkjet and laser printers. They may also be available in smaller and larger sizes. It’s little wonder why it’s a standard supply in most classrooms and arts and crafts tables. If you want to use Hartford construction paper for crafts, be sure you rely on these tips and suggestions.

Paper Chain

You may see strips of paper looped together to form paper chains. These are typically seen around the holidays and in elementary school classrooms. Paper chains serve decorative purposes but they may also be used in games and for countdowns. Creating paper chains is very, very simple. First, pick out your choice of colors you want to put together. Decide if you want a specific order for them or if you prefer random groupings. Cut the paper into several strips. How long and wide you make the strips is up to you. Just be sure they are not too fat or too short or else you’ll have difficulty making them. When all the cutouts are snipped, take each strip and form a chain by overlapping one end over the other. Be careful not to crease or smash the paper. Use glue stick, hot glue, or Elmer’s glue to adhere both ends together. Since it takes a little while for the glue to dry, you might prefer stapling or taping the ends together. Then loop the next strip through the last piece of the chain and use an adhesive or fastener to keep the chains secure. Keep going until you’re satisfied with how long the chain is.

Paper Book

Another project to engage in is creating a book out of construction paper. There are 2 methods to accomplish this. For the first technique, start out by picking out a cover for your book. Choose any color among the standard sized construction paper. Fold the paper in half hamburger style. Next, find the color or colors you want for the inside pages. Collect about 4 or 5 sheets. Trim an inch off around the perimeter. Stack these papers and then fold them in half hamburger style. Insert these sheets of paper into your cover. Make sure there is an equal distance between the pages’ and the cover’s edges all around. Close your book. Staple the top left corner of the spine and then work your way to the bottom so there are at least 3 staples.

If you have a longer, heavy duty stapler, you can do the alternative method. Lay out your construction paper sheet that will be your cover. Assemble several sheets of paper together to become the inside pages. Again, trim an inch off around the perimeter. Compile a stack of paper and lay it out across the book cover evenly. Fold all the papers in the middle. Flip the paper sheets over so the cover is over the page. Find the creased point and line your stapler up with that line. Staple the papers up and down the spine. Fold the papers again and now you have a book made out of Hartford construction paper. Now all you have to do is fill it with words and drawings.
