Alicia Keys made a speech about how Whitney reached out to her and other artists. According to her “she’s been an angel to us” she went on to add sing a tribute song to her.

Many big name artists were also there to pay their tribute as well as say goodbye to Whitney. some of them were Actor-director-writer Tyler Perry who said “grace that kept on carrying her all the way through, the same grace led her all the way to the top of the charts. She sang for presidents.” There was also Dionne Warwick, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, R. Kelly, gospel stars CeCe and Bebe Winans, Oprah Winfrey, Gayle King, Chaka Khan, Brandy, Mariah Carey, Roberta Flack, Jordin Sparks, Jennifer Hudson, Ray-J, Rev. Jesse Jackson, actor Lela Rochon, singer and ex-husband Bobby Brown, gospel singer Cissy Houston and daughter, Bobbi Kristina and a host of others.

Pastor Joe A. Carter of the New Hope Baptist Church opened Saturday’s service by telling the congregation that “we gonna have church today.
“We are here today, hearts broken but yet with God’s strength we celebrate the life of Whitney Houston,” Carter said. “Whitney, you are the only woman that could bring all of us together. Whitney, today is your day.”
