Africans In Spain: Two Cameroonian Migrants Arrested For Killing Ten Nigerians

According to Yahoo News, the Spanish police have arrested two Cameroonian migrants and they are under their custody for the killings of about ten Nigerians. According to the allegations, the Nigerians were pushed into the stormy waters in an attempt to get into Spain after a fight between both parties.

The two arrested Cameroonians were travelling in a group of 50 sub-Saharan migrants on an inflatable boat without a motor on December 3 from Morocco to Spain. They are reported to have ran into rough weather that was blamed on the Nigerians.

“The worsening weather conditions caused unease on the boat, but the fight broke out when a Nigerian pastor started praying out of fear that it would sink,” the statement said.
“That is when the detainees blamed the bad weather on the Nigerians who were praying and used the boards that covered the bottom of the boat to assault and throw overboard the pastor and the other Nigerian passengers.”

While those pushed in the sea are estimated to be 10, the Spanish police say the survivors have no idea of the real number of people that were killed as a result of the fight because it was dark.

But when the Spanish coast guard officials found the boat on December 5 floating off the coast, there were 29 people that include a three-year-old child.

“The rest of the passengers who did not survive perished due to the rough conditions of these types of voyages,” the police statement said.

The killings of the Nigerians by the Cameroonians was discovered after police noticed the survivors were afraid of the two men from Cameroon. The police were made know of the incident by three of the surviving immigrants during interrogation.

The sum of 1,500 euros ($1,800) was discovered on one of the detained Cameroonian. According to the survivors, the money was stolen off the Nigerians that were killed.
