African Runs for Mayor of Verona

Ibrahima Barry has been cleared to run for Mayor of Verona. Mr. Barry is an Italian citizen originally from Guinea Conakry.

He will run on a Communist Alternative Party (Partito di Alternativa Comunista) ticket.
“Our programme is authentically revolutionary, targeting workers, the working class,” Mr. Barry said.

He said that they were committed to supporting workers born in Verona and those who have come from far away to look for a better life.

Mr. Barry who has been living in Italy for 20 years, would like to work for “a truly anti-racist city where there is full integration” of immigrants.

Elections will be held in May 2012.
